Based upon the research of Dr Hechmi Toumi, Associate Professor at the School of Bioscience, Cardiff University, Demasq’s novel medical imaging software has the potential to revolutionise the knee imaging market by providing surgeons with MRI levels of soft tissue imaging from a standard digital x-ray for a fraction of the price of an MRI. The Demasq product will bring benefits to healthcare providers, doctors and patients.
Unlike conventional X-rays which visualise only bone a Demasq image enables accurate visualisation of the knee’s soft tissues. It is capable of visualising both the articular cartilage (which covers the joints surfaces), and the fibrocartilage (which makes up the menisci, the knee’s shock-absorbers). This allows a medical practitioner to rapidly and inexpensively predict if the patient has a degenerative knee injury or torn cartilage.
