Company Background

Axordia is a regenerative therapeutics company utilising its platform human embryonic stem cell (hESC) technology to:

 prevent transplant rejection through the use of Axordia’s unique endovascular cell technology ; and
 cure degenerative blindness through Axordia’s novel retinal cell technology for the treatment of Age Related Macular Degeneration

Based in Sheffield, Axordia owns the rights to 100% of any future stem cell IPR generated by the University of Sheffield, the UK’s number one university for stem cell IPR. Axordia’s current technology is based on the work of two of the world’s leading stem cell scientists, Professor Peter Andrews and Professor Harry Moore

For the non-technical

Embryonic stem cell lines (ES cell lines) are cultures of cells approximately 4 to 5 days old and consisting of 50-150 cells. These ES cells are pluripotent – that means they can each develop into more than 200 cell types of the adult body. As a result, embryonic stem cells are a potential source for regenerative medicine and tissue replacement after injury or disease. Axordia is at the forefront of this development.
