Company Background

Biohydrogen is developing a metabolically engineered microbial production method that is capable of producing hydrogen from sugar solution media through fermentation. Initial results indicate this unique method of production has the potential to be at the forefront of new low carbon fuel technology developments.

There is currently huge interest in all forms of renewable energy due to the need to reduce the factors that accelerate global warming, the increasing rise in the cost of fossil fuels and the need for energy security. Governments such as the USA, UK, Canada and Australia are offering significant funding initiatives for the development of “clean” energy technologies and large corporations are also investing in the development of new sustainable energy methods and the company will be looking to access some of these funds as it develops

For the non-technical

Hydrogen has the potential to become the carbon neutral fuel of tomorrow, and could replace oil and coal. We have developed a method for getting bacteria to break down glucose and glycerol to produce potentially massive quantities of hydrogen as a by-product.
